Packed with the power of naturally hydrating ingredients, this oil is formulated to nourish your horse’s coat to ensure a naturally shiny and healthy coat.

What can this be used for?
• Everyday coat care
• Maintaining supple coats
• Lifting sweat without rinsing
• Soothing itchy skin
• Revitalising coats after clipping
• Preparing coats for quarter marks
• Achieving a polished look before entering the show ring
• Extra coat care after washing
• Hot oil treatment

How to use

Hot oil treatment — add 100ml of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner to a bucket of warm water and sponge over your horse after washing. No need to rinse off!

For an extra hydrating wash — add a splash of oil to your shampoo bucket or drizzle on your wash bay brush/sponge alongside shampoo. Massage into coat and rinse.

For daily grooming or refilling your pre-mixed bottle — add 50-100ml of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner to your spray bottle and spritz onto your horse's coat while grooming.

We recommend using a 1:9 oil-to-water ratio.

Why this works
We've created a silicone-free formula that utilises lightweight plant oils (cotton seed & almond) to condition the coat and provide a soft, touch-dry, non-greasy finish. By avoiding synthetic silicones & mineral-based oils, which typically act as occlusives that coat the hair rather than being readily absorbed, this formula works with the coat's natural absorbency to prevent heavy product build-up whilst still enhancing shine.

Our favourite ways to use the Essential Oil Coat Conditioner

1

As an intense hot oil treatment

Fill a bucket with warm water and add 50–100ml of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner. Dip a sponge into the mixture and gently squeeze over your horse’s coat after washing or clipping when natural oils may have been reduced. No need to scrape off after — simply allow the treatment to absorb into the coat and skin. This method helps support hydration and enhance natural shine.

2

For daily coat conditioning (or refilling your pre-mixed bottle)

Pour 50–100ml of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner into a spray bottle and fill the remainder with water. Shake well to combine. Lightly mist your horse’s coat and brush through as part of your regular grooming routine (remember to shake before each use). When diluted and used as directed, this everyday treatment helps maintain coat hydration and a healthy-looking finish without heavy buildup.

Mixed with shampoo for extra hydration

After thoroughly wetting your horse’s coat with water, apply our Natural Horse Shampoo to your Wash Bay Brush or sponge, then add a small dash of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner directly onto the brush or sponge. Scrub the coat as usual, working through the hair, and rinse thoroughly. This combination provides a gentle cleanse while supporting coat condition and shine.

FAQ

Will this make dust stick to my horse?

Our blend of lightweight plant oils conditions the coat and leaves behind a touch-dry, non-greasy finish. Since the formula works with your horse's coat instead of sitting on top of it, you avoid that tacky feeling that dust seems to cling to!

Will this burn my horse in the sun?

No. This is a cosmetic coat conditioner. It isn’t made to increase sun sensitivity. We recommend applying it to a dry coat and following your usual sun management practices when your horse is in direct sunlight.

Will this make my saddle slip?

This coat conditioner has been intentionally formulated to be absorbed into the coat rather than sit on the surface. The touch-dry, non-greasy finish of our silicone-free formula keeps the coat looking glossy without that slippery layer often left behind by products that sit on top of the hair.

Does this coat conditioner contain silicones?

No! Silicones may help create that instant shine you're looking for but they tend to sit on the surface of the hair & build-up over time. That kind of shine comes from the coating, not the coat.

Our coat conditioner is completely silicone-free as we prefer to use lightweight plant oils that condition the coat to achieve a naturally glossy finish.
