This formula has been carefully matched to the natural pH of your horse's coat and is packed with organic ingredients, offering a gentle cleanse without stripping away natural oils. Infused with natural fruit extracts and nourishing oils, it helps refresh and revitalise dull coats while enhancing natural softness and shine.

Proudly made in Australia, this formula is vegan, cruelty-free, and free from silicones, sulfates and parabens, making it gentle enough for daily use on all coat types.

How to use

Thoroughly wet your horse's coat, mane and tail with clean water. Apply a small amount of the Natural Horse Shampoo and massage into the coat using your hands, a wash bay brush, or sponge to create a soft lather. Rinse your horse until no product remains. Repeat if necessary.

Want to make the shampoo extra conditioning? Add a drizzle of Essential Oil Coat Conditioner on with the shampoo.

Is it suitable for all coat colours?

Yes, it’s safe and effective for all coat colours.

Do I need to use a conditioner afterwards?

No conditioner necessary! Our shampoo is nourishing enough on its own. However, for extra hydration, you can add our essential oil coat conditioner to your shampoo bucket or apply it directly with your wash bay brush.

How often can I wash my horse?

Thanks to our shampoo's gentle formula, you can wash your horse as often as needed.

Is it safe for other animals?

While it’s formulated for horses, the gentle pH-balanced ingredients are generally safe for most four-legged pets. However, we always recommend a patch test, as every animal can react differently.

Will it dry out my horse’s skin or strip the natural oil barrier?

No. Our gentle, sulfate-free formula helps maintain your horse’s natural skin oils. Sulfates, which are found in many other shampoos, can strip the coat and dry the skin (but we don’t use them in our products).

Yes. It’s made with natural ingredients, and the bottle is produced using rPET plastic (recycled PET), which helps reduce environmental impact.

Best horse shampoo ever!!

This shampoo is absolutely fabulous, best horse shampoo I've ever used. Such a quality product, smells great and works so well - truly looks after my horse's coat. I have so many Hairy Pony products and they are all such an incredibly high standard. Thank you Hairy Pony!!

Clean, soft and the smell is amazing

I have a Shire with beautiful white feathers, which means regular washing is a must, not only to keep them looking good, but also to help prevent issues like mites. On top of that, I use him regularly for horse photoshoots, so I really need his feathers to look clean, soft, and absolutely stunning. He also has quite sensitive skin, so I’m always careful about what products I use on him.

I’ve been using the Hairy Pony Horse Shampoo, Hair Repair, and the Purple Hair Repair, and honestly, he’s looking better than ever. His feathers are incredibly soft, bright, and clean, without feeling dry or irritated. The purple treatment has made a huge difference to the whiteness.

I genuinely love these products, and I think my horse does too. His skin is happy, his feathers look amazing, and that’s exactly what I need both for his comfort and for photoshoots. Highly recommend.

It seems like a very nice product but the smell of the product is a little weird. It has a very odd odor but the product seems great!

Great Shampoo

It’s rainy and cool on Vancouver Island but once I use this shampoo the ponies coats are soft and lovely to groom. A must have!
